Default 719 - Koala in the Mangroves

    Meet Koala 719.

I went for a short drive today down to some mangrove boardwalks at a little environment place called Osprey House. They have a breeding pair of Ospreys there with a web cam.
I was there to brave the mozzies and see if I could get some shots of some birds. I failed on the birds but got this Koala in the mangroves. Very unusual and I've never heard of it before.
I was talking to the lady who runs the place and she said the Koala was now doing this regularly and they'd name her Jenny or something I didn't really take notice of. I did take notice that she said the Koala had a ear tag but she had been unable to read it with her binoculars. My 2nd shot here was clear enough to zoom in and see the number easily so she was very grateful that she can now go track which Koala this is.

719 was well up in the trees so these are cropped in a fair way.

Cute shots MA; I just hate to see tags on animals though. Not only does it compromise the picture for me (it always gives the image another meaning) but it's just damn cruel if you ask me. (I'm such a bleeding heart )

    Thanks for those comments.

Marko ... I hear ya! Unfortunately though the Koala's need management now that humans have been destroying so much of their environment. I do think tags like that one are too damn big though. Surely, a smaller tag is sufficient.
