through a series of unconnected events my horse and I have not had 3 consecutive weeks of training since January. The latest has us just back to work since sunday. there's a show this weekend followed by a clinic with the judge. We're not ready by any stretch. However, the shows here are few and far between so I decided, what the heck, let's go. :goodvibes

wish us luck, and even more important- wish us to have fun.

so thanks everyone for the wishes. Not only have I had a blast, I actually got some of the highest scores I've ever had!

A bit of background: I show 'Dressage' which is finicky, demanding both physically and mentally (for horse and rider) and can never, ever be perfect. So of course I love it. 'Cause when it all comes together there is no longer two beings but one. :). In a show you ride a specific pattern at your level of training. Each movement is given a score out of 10. In the end the one with the most points wins the class. But it's more about setting goals for improvement. I've shown under this judge for many years. This year I got some very nice scores. And we stayed consistent.

the result is that I won 2 classes, second in another and fourth in one (last class yesterday and poor Irish was tired and hot). But I'm most pleased with the scores I got.
