Here are some images from the Canmore Folk Festival. I kinda felt like a sniper at times, hiding behind something or someone to get the shot off without being detected. Some people you might know, like Amanda Martinez, the singer

or Buffy St. Marie, the woman who belted out her song "The Universal Soldier" after telling us how "her" generation helped stop a war. This is also my generation, and I remember it well, this war in Vietnam....

and here is a portrait of Ruthie Foster; it was her third appearance at the festival this year, and she managed to mezmerize us all, despite the rain ...

I loved taking images of the "little ones"; their innocence is breathtaking. One has to be careful taking these images, since one could get into trouble with the parents, for one reason or another. It's a shame that our world has come to this.

Then there were those who could not stop themselves and just had to exercise :headslap: some danced to the jigs and hornpipes being played, like the gal on the left (or top, depending on your display), and others tried out the old Hula Hoop ... man, I used to be able to spin one around, now I cannot find one big enough

Nice set, Matt! The Ruthie Foster one is particularily nice and I love her music, too! At Calgary Folkfest I have been busted for photographing the "Talent", but you can get away with it most of the time at the workshops.

Thanks, JAS. I don't go to the Calgary one, it is just too big for me. I like the CAnmore one better, not so crowded, and the scenery is breathtaking. Mind you, it can get pretty cold and rainy (I have some images to prove that point,). And in Canmore you can get pretty close and comfy with the artists. I will post a couple more images.

I'm with JAS ... the Ruthie shot has great light and shadow which has resulted in a nice texture as well.
