In spite of the smoky haze casting weird flat light over the city, I saw these banners and tried to capture them. With high contrast processing I was able to counteract the haze, although it is still somewhat visible. I think the third one works especially well, with the banners as spots of color. The black and white for the rest seems to help with the smoke haze.

the 2nd ones cropping and selective colour post work makes the banners really stand out

The second one does it for me too! I find I like being able to see the details of the banners. They look like they're glowing. Very cool.

2nd shot for me too, although I like the selective coloured shot as well. The 2nd one is a very good composition with the tower adding interest and a sense of location.

Thanks for the comments. They're very colorful, but most people just drive by and don't notice them. I showed these pictures to my work colleagues and they all said they had never noticed them, even though they drive by there at least once a week or more. There are more banners on other bridges around Calgary so it can be a bit of a project for me. Mike
