another interesting steel sculpture - Calgary sure seems to have invested a lot into large art in the downtown core.

Ed, there is a lot of Art! Most of this kind of stuff is privately funded. To be fair, for its size and reputation as being a hick cowtown, Calgary does support its arts. WE are not New York, L.A. or even Toronto but we are not the barren wasteland some would like you to believe either.
