I was hoping it was okay buuuuuuuuut thinking not. :headslap: :wall-an:

Got home from Montana and out of the car forgetting the bag was open and my 75-300 landed on the concrete smashing the Uv filter into a bazillion pieces. Now when I am adjusting the focal length it sounds like there is sand inside the lens. I think there may be some optic damage although the glass is fine, it definitely sounds like the inside is not.
Thank Gawd it was not a massively expensive lens (and my least favorite because it takes forever to lock onto anything in AF) but costly lesson to check the stupid bag each time I move it.

That sucks !!!! Thats why I keep the lens hoods on my lenses. It helps to protect them. Once my 50mm 1.8 rolled off the table and landed on the floor. It appeared to cause no damage and still works fine. Mind you that lens is a lot lighter that a 75-300.

I had the hood on there (backwards for storage) but unfortunately I don't think it helped. :(
