I have been on a few forums and have been heckled and trashed when I post a shot that someone didn't like. When I posted a couple shots for constructive criticism I got it on this very helpful and welcoming forum.

Thanks to all who make this Forum helpful and constructive for all to learn and build from as photographers.

You've tried the rest now stick with the best :) Seriously, though, thanks for the comment. I honestly cannot understand what people get out of trashing someone else's work whether it's a photograph or a YouTube video or a comment on a blog. I can totally understand disagreeing and even arguing a counter point but I just really don't see what people get out of being rude and insulting.

yup. that's how we work here. Any rude posters are asked to leave.:evil2:

I cannot begin to describe how much this site has improved my photography. And enabled me to buy my first dSLR

Thanks for the compliments on the politeness, as Admin I take that VERY seriously. I HATE arrogance and rudeness....and I have seen it in often on many forums. So far we've had almost ZERO of that around here. Personally I just LOVE photography and I love sharing what i know....and I'll share it thousands of times when asked. I'd also like to add that when a member does post a lousy shot (it happens :) ) the tone of the reply does not usually cause the original poster to become defensive - this helps A LOT!

The other members as you have seen are amazing at constructive criticism and making this a friendly place. :highfive:  :grouphug: This has helped many members improve their skills.

Thanks for the post and feel free to spread the word to other friendly photographers!

Best! - Marko

That's why I stuck around as well. The people here are only gonna tell ya if ya ask "how can i improve?" The other sites with people who will put you down are arrogant and self righteous, no one wants people like that in their lives. I know this site has improved my skills and has also gives me a boost when I need a get out and shoot!

I know how you feel. Have had similar experiences, and came to the same conclusions. Even made a thread very similar to this once upon a time :)

Dumping all over someone's photo, even if warranted takes a streak of mean most of us don't have. We all have to start somewhere and are individual vision takes us where no one else can follow sometimes and that's why this forum has a nice group. If I don't have anything to say about a shot, I don't and leave it at that.
