Hi LM!
I think this is a decent attempt but could be improved. I Love dogs shoot quite a few of them, and know that it's difficult. I'm guessing these are your dogs and if so you are lucky as they seem to be able to sit still. They look fairly relaxed.
In terms of improvements the first thing I notice is that the floor and the background drape/cloth aren't really working. I might recommend a background of grey paper. Usually the paper is thicker and comes on a roll and you can roll it out to cover the floor. Grey is an amazing colour because if you shine tons of light onto it, it gets white. medium amounts of light - it stays greyish - and just a bit of light makes for a moody dark low lit background in some cases. Also since this also plays into it is, In general you also want subjects farther from the background so that you control the light that falls on them versus the light that falls on the background. If they are too close the light that hits the subject automatically hits the background. For this shot I might have tried to use a smaller aperture to get both dogs' eyes in sharper focus.
Hope that helps,
Marko

Thanks Marko,
I appreciate your comments. The background is actually a wall. I didn't set this up, I just snapped them as they were. Great idea with the grey paper further away, I'll keep that in mind for future shots. Unfortunately, I don't think either dogs eyes are in focus.
