Apparently the largest saltmarsh in New England is in Salisbury, MA where my husband was running a 5k today. I went along to see what the marsh was like. I took the Old Eastern Marsh Trail for a bit and here's two that bookend pretty well together -

I had the totally wrong shoes for slopping around in the slush (it was 55 dF today - weird!), but I had fun anyway. I wish there were more trails there, but I don't think there are in the interests of preserving the habitat. If you google earth it though, you can see strange straight lines where I think they dug irrigation channels for the saltmarsh hay that was harvested here in the 18th century.

Both excellent Imaged WD..the colouring against the sky for shot 1 is awesome as well as the detail in the grasses and the reflection in shot 2 is seriously sweet!
Very well done on both counts!

thanks much. they're a bit different from traditional snow images, but I think I have some of those, too.

Took the words right out of my mouth! I'll add in that I love the blue sky in both! :)

thanks Ig. am working on more shots from today, but none with such color variation.

Nice. As was said, the contrast in both shots is very well balanced. Very well executed WD.

thanks goils. I do so love my rig, big and heavy though it is and, not that you guys ever would, but sometimes a 4/3rds user takes a lot of crap about how lousy our image quality is. yeah right.

thanks guys. I slopped around in the slush a bit to get the curve right.

I rarely add opinion when it isn't asked for buuuuuut :) if you used "curves" in a graphics program to add contrast to the blue skied foreground and the reflected clouds, this shot would sing even louder imo.

Sing louder?

It's a weird expression i learned in photo school 100 years ago...
Basically it refers to getting a better tonal range - In this shot, the blue skied foreground and the reflected clouds look like they could use brightening to my eye. That brightening imo, would make the image pop harder or sing louder. I just REALLY like this image and to my eye, like a gorgeous layered cake, it has 4 sections, 2 of which stand out less......apologies in advance if the (unasked for) comment threw you for a loop.

it's quite all right. sometimes it's hard to be objective about a photo because I was the one taking it - I saw what was there and have an interpretation that is sometimes pretty single-minded. Let me do some playing and see, although I do tweak curves on almost every photo.

you were right, Marko, the mids needed a boost.
