One of the many cities that are established along the Grand River. It is a designated Heritage River and was once one of the largest trading routes in the country.
This is downtown Cambridge where the river runs through the centre of town. Most of the surrounding buildings are built from the local limestone quarries of the past.

the're all excellent, but there's something about that second one that is pretty arresting.

Thanks a bunch Don, Bambi, and Casil.
Yes, it is such a beautiful area with a lot of history within an hours drive. Too bad I just got a couple mid to wide-angle lenses and we are leaving this area in a few months time. Oh well, it will just make me get out and get the shots I want even more before time runs out. After the move it will be mostly ghost/mining towns to shoot. Not that I will mind that.

I lived in Kitchener/Waterloo, but spent lots of time in Cambridge. Ive lived in B.C, Alberta, Ontario, and Nova Scotia, spent a good deal of time in New Brunswick, and Quebec as well. My credit card wont let me move again, so ive been stuck here for a while lol

Not quite that desolate, but moving into Northern Ontario's gold, silver, and heavy metals mining area approx. 7.5 hrs. North of where we live now. Not much around but bush, lakes, and rock. Just East of us there is only one road for approx. 80X80 kms, and just Southwest there is a large section of land approx. 120x160 kms with no roads. There are lots and lots of bears though.

Thanks MA, but not quite my town, we live out in the country. The battlements are actually one of the many Church steeples. There are several square flat ones around here.

Definitely beautiful in winter when there is more snow on ground. Also a great wintering spot for Bald Eagles. We have seen up to 14 in the sky at one time.
