View Full Version : My frozen sunset

The other day I went in quest of a sunset, but the colors did not cooperate. Tonight was better, but damn it was cold. The wind picked up and came whipping off the ice. When I tried to turn my headlamp on I couldn't because my fingers were so numb. I had to put my thumb in my mouth for a while so it could warm up enough to feel the switch. Once I got off the shorline though, things were more bearable and I warmed up nicely on the way back to the car. Here's what I got -

Although some guys were walking way out there the last time I went, it wasn't safe today (you can see a slice of open water by the rocks). If it stays below freezing for a week or so it will be and I'd like to get out on it for some different angles and foreground elements.

Ahhh!...the joys of shooting in the frigid north , LOL :)
Nice work , really like the purple diagonal ice in that 1st one .
If your lake freezes solid , I hope it dosn't snow right away , so that you can get some cool ice to shore shots . So far around here , all of the smaller lakes froze while snowing , so no nice clear ice to get out on yet .

thanks, Donna. yeah I know, winter has its challenges doesn't it? Massabesic freezes pretty solid, but unfortunately we're supposed to get snow this weekend. I hope it isn't much or is light and fluffy so it blows off. For this series I concentrated on the foreground since there were no clouds above the horizon.

thanks girl. I kept backing up and finding more ice to include since the clouds skedaddled. The whole time it kept making big cracking and booming noises, like it was chatting.
