View Full Version : Three computers

So I was going through my closet the other day, sifting through the old tired technology I've saved because I wanted to see if I had enough parts to build a good production box. I decided against the idea for various reasons and got a totally new one. However, I realized there is enough stuff in the closet to easily build three to four excellent basic systems. I've decided to bring as many as I can back to life rather than throw them in the bin. I'd like to give them to families who can't afford computers or non profit places. Where do you go to find say single mothers or dads with kids who can barely afford food never mind computers. Where would you find people in need?...Monitors, keyboards and mice included.

PS...Anyone got any ideas how to load them up with three valid OS's. I thought of appealing on Craigslist to all those people who've upped to Vista or win 7 to give up their old winxp disks but am I setting myself up for a legal smack with that idea?

You could try contacting a women's shelter in your area or perhaps Big Brothers and Sisters.

There is also this site:
ERA.Ca Donations of computers to charities and non profit groups in Canada, Calgary, Vancouver, and world wide. (http://www.era.ca/donations/recycling/donations.html)

I agree with Casil's suggestion. I have done this with household goods and furniture. Many of the women leave a home with nothing more then the clothes on their back.

I second this ... there are some recycling facilities in Calgary as well, I wonder what they are doing with the stuff ???
