I was down at the waterfront yesterday morning trying to catch a sunrise with the thought being that the cold fog (minus 18C with a minus 27c wind chill during this!!) that hangs over the lake this time of day might make a good subject for the backlight assignment. To make a long story short along came a fox waaaaayy out on the ice. Took the camera off the tripod and fired away. Kinda made my day. Wish I had a little more zoom to better catch the moment!! Hope you enjoy.

That image # 2 is a killer. Wonderful. Even though one can hardly make out the fox (could be a coyote or other dog for that matter), the lighthouse on the left counterbalances nicely. Very nice shot, well worth enduring the cold!

#2 is my favourite as well; the starkness of the barren ice is wayyy cool. You might want to try a "crop-zoom". If you crop image #2 down to a 1024 pixel wide image then things in the image will get about 4 times larger since your original is 5148 pixels wide. Note that you are throwing away a lot of pixels but you might find a bit more detail in that canine.

Love the colour tones in that 1st one Aub. It really tells a story at the length you shot, as in the hardships of survival for some creatures, and yet so beautiful are the surroundings.

Thank you for the nice comments Matt, Iggy,Hillbillygirl and Bambi. Much appreciated.:)
Here are a couple more without zoom for the overall view and a larger crop of the critter. He actually did find something out there. He must have been here previously.

Thanks edG. It was a bit cool at the time but truth be known it has not been too bad up here this winter...so far.

That is a cool set. As Iggy said, it has the appearance of the high artic.
