Unedited picture

First I'll start off by saying that posting undedited (Which I read as "unprocessed") images isn't really appropriate. No image is ever at it's best when it comes out of the camera. Just as in the days of the darkroom there was always something to tweak, there are always things that you can and/or should do in the pixlel room. You might well be critiqued on a point which you would have corrected in post.
So, on to the image: Overall, I'm afraid it seems very 'snap-shotish' to me. The background, while slightly softly focused is far too cluttered and distracting. Additionally, the dog himself is not ideally positioned. My preference is that with animals it's better to either get just a head shot or a whole body shot, but a 3/4 body shot looks like careless composition (whether intentional or not). Lastly, I can't be 100% sure, but it looks like you may have missed the focus a little. His eyes don't seem completely sharp to me.

Given the area, I think this might have worked better if you'd zoomed in for a head shot from a slightly lower shooting position. Keep at it!

Just my $00.02 worth - your milage may vary.

As a picky linguist, the word is mileage, spelled with an e. :)

I agree with TI here.

I like it when animals look into the camera or that you can see their eyes more clearly.

This pose as it is in the shot, might work better if all the clutter on the left were cropped right out.

Tegan - typos/misspellings are rampant on the Net....you'll never sleep if you start correcting people's spelling (and many people won't like it..trust me - through T.I is a cool dude fer sure)

gawd.....:)... it must drive u crazy to read my posts... funny thing is I write business letr's all day and look forward to the loose communicative style of the internet.... sorta like taking the tie off...

on the other hand.. i think it's important to learn proper english structure before disemboweling it... something I am not sure is happening with the youth of today...

I agree that many people, especially younger people can't spell, but this is not a spelling forum and correcting people's spelling often starts threadwars and bad feelings...something I like to avoid..

If that's the only typo in my post, I'm happy! :p

back to critiquing the dog pic - i think if you try and capture the dog with an uncluttered background, the outcome would be much better.... he would stand out a lot more. nice lighting however!

Marko, I think that a phrase that is constantly repeated at the end of a post should at least be spelled correctly. That should NOT be an unrealistic expectation from any educated person to any other educated person. Moreover if attention to detail in photography is important than it should be part of written expression as well.
