Hey,
I caught this very interesting guy as I crossed the Blue Nile river on his boat. What do you all think?

Nicely captured Yisehaq.

I find it interesting that you have your exposure setting in manual and your white balance in auto. A tad more depth of field (may be f8 or smaller apeture) may have given a clearer understanding to the location (water definitely not blue closer to the earth tones on shore).

Did you happen to take any of him doing his job (environmental portrait) while he ferried you across the Blue Nile or a study of his hands on the tiller or wheel or handling a rope?

Quite a nice casual portrait - I like it!

The only thing that I noticed immediately is the pure white sky. The shot would be better if the sky wasn't washed out.

This can be done by waiting for better time of day or possibly repositioning. OR by underexposing the sky somewhat and using some fill flash on the subject.

Either way I'm sure the subject will like this image, I know I do.

Best!

Well, edG, the Blue Nile is not blue but the color you saw on the pic. It got its name from its source which is a lake which is kind of blueish. The name, I think is ment to distinguish it from its counter part in neigbouring country, named White Nile. Anyway, what is in a name?

The guy was so occupied entertaining us that he didn't do anything environmental but he played for us a couple of song which were worth listening to.

Yeah, I also did notice that. I have tried some other shot which address the points you mentioned. Since I didn't have my flash with me, I had to find a work around by putting changing positions etc. I hope this one is better in that sense.
