This last week end we went to our country house for some great time with the little family!

Man was it cold outside! I think it was time to test out the K5 under very cold conditions. Pentax garantees a working K5 up to -10 degrees Celcius. On the night of January 21 it was around -22 degrees celcius... I spent about 30 to 45 minutes outside doing some sky photography.

This shot of the constellation of Orion is my best one. Hope you enjoy!

The K5 performed flawlessly all that time :)

Cool. I still marvel at the all the interesting shapes people found in the stars.

Thanks Gaetan. For many years during the winter I stopped and looked at Orion in the morning on my way out the door to work. Moved to Victoria last year and this winter with the constant rain I've barely seen the tops of the trees in months.

Thanks all for your comments... sorry I took a few days to reply.. I've been home with a cold...

Iguanasan: The greeks of ancient Greece had very good wine to see those figures in the night sky :P

Beauty of a shot Gaetan. I have taken my K7 out in temps as low as -20C and it always does really well especially being here in the mountains. Usually the battery gets just too cold and then craps out and then it is home time. With the K200 I always keep a spare set of AA's in my pocket with a small heat pack so I can switch over if need be as well. :)

good idea Lisa. a friend of mine uses chemical hand warmers to keep batteries (and fingers) toasty. I really need to get some of those.
