It seems whenever I try to shoot Upper Purgatory falls, I have no success, but I come away with shots of the brook itself that I like. Here's one from yesterday, shot from just in front of the falls looking downstream. About 2 feet of my tripod legs sunk in snow. Typical this year.

The light was pretty great. Muted sun, but enough to bring up textures and shadows. It was silent, too, except for the brook babbling under ice and for frozen hemlock cones hitting the crusty snow and rolling downhill.

This is very well done imo. LOVELY sharpness, comp and sense of space in the foreground that works for me.
Just curious - did you try this as a pure BW, might sing even louder though I'm not 100% sure.

I did try it, but it seemed too stark which is not how it feels to be there. The gorge, though frozen, seems enveloping rather than isolating. I can post it in a sec and you can be the judge.
