I was out doing some senior pics for my coworkers son who is graduating next month when this group of runners came by. It was kind of a split second decision to take the shot. I think blur in action shots work sometime and sometime not. I thought it worked out ok on this one. Am I wrong?

it's a neat shot. Normally you wouldn't want the runners so close to running out of the edge but with the blur it works for me. It gives a sense of speed.

First off, I really like the white/grey tone of the image. It's very "flat" which is kind of cool for this shot. The runners running out of frame adds to this for me as it looks like, combined with the blur, they are running so fast that they're hard to catch on "film". I wish they were all wearing blue, red, orange, green or some such so they would pop off the image. The grey sweatshirts blend into the background too much but unless it was staged it's a little hard to pick their clothing! ;)
I think you should crop a little tighter as the dark window pulls my eyes away from the runners so you should crop it away. In this case, everything is light grey (or kind of white) so the darks draw your eyes. The blue and orange hoodies and the dark running shorts are the main action and the window is distracting.

Totally works for me. I love seeing movement in photos.

Thanks to all for viewing and comments. Good point Iguanasan, on the window. I'll do some cropping and see what I come up with.

I think it's very good, has a wonderfully stark mood to it. To nitpick a bit it would have been nice to catch the runners against the wall. That car is a bit distracting. Agree with Glenn about the window.
Is it me or do the blocks in the building, especially the left-most column, seem to be not quite square - more like parallelograms really? :)

Nice shot Lorey. I can't add any more to what the others have already said suffice to say that I like it very much. There are lots of interesting elements to the picture such as the hint of colour, architecture and blurred movement and I also like the general composition. Well done.

I think I'm in agreement with most of the comments here, The motion and muted pallet, make for a really nice image.
