Twirling Dancer

I took this a few years ago at a Chinese traditional music and dance presentation at a local collage. I was fortunate to get a front row center seat. I had my first DSLR just a few days with a 40-150 lens. This dancer was twirling with about a second pause between each spin. I watched her through the viewfinder and tried keeping the rhythm of her spins and when I thought it was right I hit the shutter. It was a bit underexposed so I had to lighten it up and correct WB. I always shoot raw so that helped a great deal. I messed with it in PS and other software and tried to give it a kind of painterly look. I have 16x20 canvas of it and it does look like a painting.

I absolutely love the colours and if it was a tad faster it might have stopped the motion in her face and that would have been just about perfect. In any event it is a great shot.

As said above the colours are really good. Olympus colours? :) Nice sense of movement too.

My minor nit pick for this image (I have them for all images, nothing personal :) would be I would have liked to see both of her hands as well. Her rear arm looks slightly odd too, the elbow(?) is very 'pointy' for lack of a better word. Did you clone something out there?

I took it about 4 years ago and I seem to remember doing some cloning but can't even remember the reason. but I'm sure it's the result of a sloppy cloning job. On the canvas, since it looks like a painting, the error kinda of blends in with the effect and isn't really noticed. I never gave that area much thought but since you pointed it out it really looked bad to me. I tried to do a fix and I'm posting it. I don't know if it's perfect but to me it's at least less noticeable. As far as the hands, I'm not an artist and can't draw and color what isn't there in the original. I was just happy with what I got considering I'm just an amateur wanna-be.... as it shows.

Totally agree with the elbow ... I'd just crop down to lose it myself. Very nice shot though.
