I took this in my backyard last weekend. At f/8 I thought I would get the entire cone in focus - but only the tips came in (forget about the macro....). I used a gold reflector to light from the bottom (late afternoon sun). Improvement suggestions apprciated.

Good start; what this image needs is fill light. A off-camera flash with diffuser to gently illuminate the details of the cone's interior would have take in from good to great. With respect to the issue of DoF, don't forget to check your composition using the DoF preview button in order to make sure you have the areas you want in focus. Keep up the good work.

I really like this shot, but do agree that it needs more light in the center. The darkness there though, kind of gives the pinecone an "air of mystery" if you know what I mean. :) Nice shot though.

Hey - thanks very much for the comments... but got to tell you my forehead is sore.... I looked at that pciture and looked at that pciture and until tirediron made the comment about the fill flash - I missed it (and hence slapped my forehead....)

Too bad I can't recreate that - but... next time... (dumbest thing, I had the flash with me....)

I appreciate it!

Thanks
Kevin
