I am looking for a good, dslr camera. But I would love for it to be between 0 and 500$. Does any one have any ideas? I am looking at the Fugifilm HS10.

I think that for that amount of money you are looking at a used camera. there are some nice bodies out there.

and that's not a DSLR. Just so you know. Looks like a fine performer though.

There are many DSLR cameras in the market. Your budget is enough to get the good one. Sony alpha A200 can come under your budget. Olympus can also be a good option.

As a Pentax user who wouldn't trade his Pentax for any other brand ;), may I suggest a Pentax K-x, with 18-55 kit lens. $460 refurbished at B&H: link (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/763326-REF/Pentax_17536B_Pentax_K_x_Digital_SLR.html) (navy blue one though, this was one of the least popular colours so they are almost always the cheapest).

Other colours also available: link (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=penta+xk-x&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&redir_esc=&ei=Y0AgTsnfL9CyhAed_qm_Aw#hl=en&ds=pr&pq=penta%20xk-x&xhr=t&q=pentax+k-x&cp=8&qe=cGVudGEgeCBrLXg&qesig=DE9n0aS6GJh41u7GWU_QdA&pkc=AFgZ2tkfLQxv5Wo_O5HnhpYQ3YMGsMLlGMiQXPnXaC_jd2 T_0Xbl_cz3CbZN6MoK2xcQmyhOX5oowINs12Nug2a59rAnuB-CzQ&pf=p&sclient=psy&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=shop&source=hp&aq=0l&aqi=g-l5&aql=&oq=penta+x+k-x&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=56a8bb488b9f9c4e&biw=1525&bih=949)

Get any 3 year old DSLR and you'll have a GREAT camera for dirt cheap.
If you have any lenses from film days, see if you can use them on the used DSLR body of that make.

I would check with local camera shops to see if they have any used cameras. I picked up a Nikon D90 body for $500.
