Yes it is that time of year again in Toronto. I almost forgot about it this year but I didn't so all is well but unfortunately I have no time tomorrow but I think I have all day Sunday but I would like to at least get in a half a day for this annual event. Doors Open Toronto gets you access to buildings that are normally off limits to the Public. Here is the website for this event, City of Toronto: Doors Open Toronto - 150 buildings citywide open their doors (http://www.toronto.ca/doorsopen/). I have not had a look at this years offerings but there are usually a building or two that I would like to get in and get photos of.

There is also an app for this event just I have not had a look at it yet but I will probably get it should help, anyway what info on the app I have seen is at this blog, BlogTO (http://www.blogto.com/tech/2011/05/doors_open_2011_mobile_apps/) which is what brought my attention to this event this year to begin with.

I tried out the for iPhone and found this to be the one I liked Door Open Mobile (http://doorsopenmobile.com/)

This is the only one that is for mobile platforms outside of the iPhone, it is web based so you will need an internet connection for this one, also if you do not want to install anything on your iPhone you also can use this one. DOTO web app (http://doto.thoughtcorp.com/).

Also if you do plan on attending this event it is best to plan ahead and have secondary options unless you like to stand in lines which is not something I am willing to do no matter the open door, also check the places you want to go to see if it allows for photos and/or flashes as not all places do.

Yes many do but as I mentioned in the post decide where you want to go and make a list of places and then go to the first site listed and they tell you what photography is allowed or not allowed but you need to check first. Some allow photography but no flash, some allow both photography with flash and some allow neither and again why you must plan ahead so you can check to see if the places you want to go to will let you take photos, if yes can you use a flash and then the ones that allow no photos.
