I went on a Macro adventure today but I'm using a canon S5 so I'm limited in what I can do. But what do you guys think? How could I have made it a better shot?

I like the idea of your art. What lens did you use?
I also have posted a maple leaf photo in this forum recently. I used a Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 lens.

I like the red leaf but it almost seems like the focus is a little off on the leaf and stronger in the nearby grass... great shot though, I really like this one.

I didn't know about Canon S5 when I replied earlier. I was curious and looked it up on the web. It's a cool camera; a very nice prosumer product from Canon. It even comes with different available IS (Image Stability) lenses! I think Canon S5 is an awesome general purpose camera and it is especially good for taking travel photos. For the creative photos posted above, a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Lens (with a Canon SLR camera) will provide a very high image quality. Equipments can be purchased, but artistic talent cannot be. I think Gem is a good photographer.

Thanks for the replies :)

mindforge, I see what you mean about the focusing. I hadn't really noticed that before but I'll keep it in mind for next time.

fallintocolors, thanks for the compliment! :D I lack an SLR but I'm interested in photography so I'm trying to do the best I can with what I have :) I know there's a macro lens converter that I can purchase for the S5 so I might buy that.

The only thing that bothers me about the red leaf is the lens-flare in the corner. I didn't see it when I took the picture :(
