I never thought that a nature photography workshop in the Canadian Prairies, especially in these economic times, could be this expensive. A multi-day tour with multiple destinations with Moose Petersen or Scott Bourne maybe; or including meals and accommodations maybe; but I just read in the summer issue of Canadian Photo News about a 6 day (not sure if all days are full days of work) workshop in Waterton Alberta with David Hemmings that is $2385.00 and does not include transportation, meals, or accommodations. Wow! The workshop is limited to 8 participants, thankfully for those who are forking out that kind of dough, but I'm just doing the math.... I wonder if he'll be shooting with any of those Tamron lenses he's been plugging in the mag.

The idea in business is charge as much as the customer is willing to pay and those who are willing to fork over that dough must think it is a fair price, though I on the other hand disagree and think "are people really willing to pay that kind of money to be part of these groups?". To each there own I guess, people think I am nuts for things I buy and pay for certain items so it is all subjective if something is fairly priced. What the market will bear.

That is pretty expensive considering I paid only $200.00 for two full days with Joe McNally. It was not one on one but basically University lecture style with about 200 participants but still, it was Joe McNally!

I read that advertisement as well and could not believe how much they were charging!WOW...Big bucks!!!
I know Darwin Wiggett charges for 1/2 day anywhere around Calgary area and mountains for photo shoots with up to 4 people for $500. If you were to get a bunch together, that would be 125 per person for some one on one instruction into landscape photography, which IMO is not too bad considering it is Darwin Wiggett.
Btw, as an aside, one of my photos made it into that issue in of Photo News.....It is called "Chinatown Bike". That is the fifth photo I have managed to get in there....gotta say feels pretty good! :D
