We have this poster hanging in our house: Wildflowers of Alberta. I always wanted to shoot something like that, and could never quite figure out how the photographer managed to get such a shot. So here is my try to resemble this a bit. It was not a nice alpine meadow, without roads and any other man made things about, but it was nice nevertheless. Did take the liberty to "nix" the posts on the road, though. I suppose I could have tried to get rid of the road altogether, but that would have been "work" ... and it's the weekend ...

Lovely capture, Matt. Crawling about in the grasses, heh? The fence and the road actually provide two leading lines to the mountains and are very effective. Those great clouds also lead into the mountains. How wide of a lens was this? Ha! Ha! Gotta go check your exif now. :) Really nice sunny shot!

A lovely, summery feeling shot Matt. Love the clarity throughout as well.

Well, you sure came through on what you intended Matt. Very well done. Makes me want to just lay down in them and relax a spell.

I like this as well - I sure would be curious to see a snap of the shot you were trying to emulate.

It is one of Paul Gilbert's images found here (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61AG9mNsqPL._SS500_.jpg) , though this is not the best representation of the image. On the poster it looks VERY impressive.

Beautiful image. Love the flowers in the forground against the mountain scene. Nice DOF as you've got both the flowers and mountains in focus.

Well, that was a pretty good version of the original. Hiking through the hills for a couple of hours to find a location far from a road would be tough I would imagine. You have to take the opportunities that present themselves! :)

Actually, there are some really nice meadows at Bow Valley Park, and at Sunshine Village (which is know for skiing more than wild flowers), trick is to hit it when the flowers are in bloom, and then when the RIGHT flowers are in bloom, to give you the full colour gamut you want. I work .... so I have little chance to go there once every three days or so; gosh I wish I could retire ....
