My old Olympus 90mm f2 macro has the most silky smooth bokeh and the other day I decided to play around with it both in macro mode and as a telephoto. Those who do not like the color green can skip this post. All shots are either at f2 or 2.8.

These first two are moss spore things...pods? I think the second one is without the husk, and the first is what's under the husk. IRL these are just a few mm across.

and of course, what post of mine would be complete without ferns?

thanks peeps. each of those little spore pod things is just a few mm across and so even the slightest breeze was frustrating. I may take the 90 into the field again tomorrow. bokeh may ensue. again.

Very nice macro shots WD. Those moss spore capsules are so sharp, and as you said , very nice bokeh.

number 1 for me is a screamer. Perfect.

thanks much. I almost didn't set #1 to process because at first glance it seems over-bokeh-ed, but then it grew on me.

Nice set! - Since you mentioned it, I wonder if shot 1 would also work with a tighter crop which may eliminate some of the 'over-bokehedness'.

I did crop it...at least I think I did, changed it from 4:3 ratio to something slimmer top to bottom. It helped and I toyed with doing more, then got indecisive.

These are excellent bokehs. My fav is number 1, however I did have the same feeling as Marko that you could maybe crop a little bit more off the bottom.

I guess I meant 'really' severe cropping, lol. For me the shot is about the plant, not the bokeh - but there's so much bokeh it has become a distraction for me.
50% of this photo barely has detail it's 'so' bokehed.
So...the severe crop I'd try would crop away 75% of this image. I'd crop off the entire bottom 50% and half the left side. (something like that).
This may be blaspheme for you, if so don't go there. :)

blasphemy? no, just another opinion and viewpoint.
