Takakkaw Falls

Not sure if it is advisable to use a long exposure on this kind of falls. Kinda seems to distract from the raw power of the falls. I dunno, what do you think, and how would you shoot this???

The water isn't absolutely smooth, so the sense of power is there. There are a couple of spots where it's obvious the water bounces off the rocks, especially towards the top. The thin spray in spots makes me think there's a lot of water moving through. What else did you want to capture? Some of the portions of waves or crests? That would be interesting, but I'm not certain it would convey more power. I'm not certain how to do that with something moving so fast, except trying a whole lot of different shutter speeds and seeing what I got. It would be a certain amount of luck, even with watching the patterns of water and trying to time them.

Works for me. The dark rock all around makes it stand out. I like the contract between the water and the rock. Like Quiet One said there is so much going on with the water there is no question of the power.

I don't think there is any question about the power of this one. With as many waterfalls as I have photographed around here I don't really have an answer on best way to this one, it's a bit more of a beast than we have!
