Just out birding, and thought this Fireweed looked nice, so shot at 45 ft. away using 700mm. Not macro, but????
(This reminds me to actually, maybe, use my new, only been on camera twice, 100mm F2.8L Macro sometime):headslap::wall-an:

my advice is to get out there and play. both lenses have uses. the one you shot this with, for example, could be great for getting shots of butterflies which are notoriously skittish. the macro, useful on a cold morning with dew and freezing insects. just go have fun!

Oh, believe me, I know, have shot many macro, (not with the new lens), just haven't posted any really. Actually, usually use the 70-200 F2.8L, or 300 F2.8L works amazing for butterflies and such. This just reminded me to get that lens out and use it. Not only that, but my husband got on my a$$ to use it, or he will.

I'd say from 45 feet away you got it pretty good.

Thanks all. I thought it was not too bad, considering.
(Yes Richard, too many toys, not enough time to use them all).
