Hi members, it's sept 1 already. Got any ideas for assignments.

here's a couple of suggestions - feel free to support them or offer up others and the themes with the most support in the next 24 hours become the theme of the month.

Regular assignment suggestions:
- fall colours
- yellow

Level 2 assignment ideas
- Shoot from ground level
- Playing with perspectives
- Macro of any kind

I like all of the level 2 ideas so I'm no help.

Fall colours doesn't seem fair for our southern members and someone posted an idea in some thread, damn what was it?

oh I remember now- how about shooting in hard light? it would go with the podcast!

Although I appreciate your enthusiasm theantiquetiger - your post is premature.

The topics have not been decided yet as per post 1. (No worries though :) )

The topics will be chosen tomorrow. These are only suggestions. Feel free to support one of them or suggest another.

Thx! Marko

I figured as much, I just happened to remember that yellow flower when you mentioned yellow.

As for a topic, since today is the official start of American College Football, how about football as a topic (any football, soccer, Canadian Football, rugby, or just kids in the yard)?

Along theantiquetiger's idea how about sports in general. i.e. Any sport

Just for fun, how about a photograph shot with a cell/smart phone?

-------------------

Well not to many suggestions so I'm just gonna take the lead here...and not delete the antiquetiger's images.

So - The regular assignment for september is Yellow.

The level 2 assignment will be - Macros of any kind.

merging suggestion posts now.

Thx! Marko

I guess I will start it. I am cheating a little because I took these a couple months ago while playing around in the front yard.

Flowers are a little too easy for this assignment, doncha think? How about Yellow Non-florals instead? (fungi could be excluded (I know, it's not a flower, but it is flora) cuz how many of us know where to look for yellow fungi?)

Flowers are fine but it is nice to see some variety, I agree.
I like this shot noobclicker - cool angle. On my monitor though it needs a contrast boost overall.
here's one i shot just today.

Cool shot, Marko and very cute little guy, Bambi! Love the black eyed susan, Matt but the caber tosser- has he only one yellow sock?

A spider might like yellow:

...and one more. Due to the tropic storm all weekend, we never left the house since Thursday.

This is just the tip of my LSU collection, mostly some of my more favorite smalls. The book is Pete Maravich's autobiography and is signed by him (one of my top 5 pieces)

Dig the shot and Your thinking here Jas!
Lovely selective focus here Jude01
Lovin - Love it! :highfive: Fab mood. Love all the silhouettes and the fab positioning of the umbrella.
theantiquetiger - Your previous post didn't apply but your second LSU shot works!

I'm gonna try another if i can get the time - yellow can go in many directions.

I've posted this before in another thread, but I took it while thinking about the yellow assignment. I was going to Photoshop it into BW with a few yellow labels left, but I like all the color in it. I just wish there were no glares on the boxes on the top shelf. This is actually my favorite shot I've done in my short photographic hobby

This bee working at taking pollen from a lilly was taken with a 17-270 zoom through a +2 close up filter. Gives a tiny DOF to work with which i am finding a real challenge.

Mellowinman.... that is awesomely cute!

Like the macro stuff... it's hard to work with such a narrow DOF... keep at it.

Please excuse the railing @ bottom left. I was on a penthouse balcony and with a drop that far I wasn't going to try and hang over the edge to get the shot without the neighbouring balcony railing.

Another attempt! As I don't have a macro lens of any sort, i am using my 17-270 lens with close up filters attached. For this one I used two filters; a +2 and a+4.
The narrow depth of field is creating a real challenge with living moving beings that won't co-operate as I try to get on the best plane for the shot. However the idea here was to fir with the theme yellow and also to capture the moment of licking pollen from the stamen of the lilly.

What a way to start off on the forum, Savemars. I really like the flare in this shot. Gives you that feeling of a late summer sun. Welcome to photography.ca! :)

Thank you! It felt the very same way with summer coming to an end and my family and I squeezing one last river day in while the water was still bearable. Was taken with a simple Lumix dmc-zr1. Thank you for the welcome as well, i love the podcast and came over as instructed :)
