Just coming home from getting supplies and just about to our lane, this little fella jumps out of our bush, so we stop the car, get out and this is what we get.
(forgot to even check settings on camera, so not so great, just wanted to capture the moment)

Who's coming down my road?

Stop right there,"Thou shall Not Pass"

Beautiful animal!!!! Sad thing is they are near extinct here in south Louisiana. Another thing, probably the reason he was coming towards you is that you got out of your car and he thinks you gonna feed him. This is gonna get him and maybe a human in trouble. People should not feed these things (I am not saying you did, but I bet he has been feed by many humans, so when ever he saw you get out of the car, he is think "free lunch")

Nope, no feeding. He is only a young male just on his second year. We were well downwind of him and hiding behind open door, so he was just curious if it was safe to get back to the pin-cherries he had been munching on across the road. He regularly feeds on these, and if a vehicle comes along, he bolts for the safety of our woods. As soon as we moved, he was gone. He is a regular here, and lives in a wooded ravine just 200 yards from our house, and is more than welcome to stay as long as he causes no trouble.

Dear HBG,

Let me say once again, in the spirit of the most true essence of kinship that I most truly hate and despise you.

Love,

WD

HBG you may have to alert WD to not look at these posts- they are causing her too much frustration. ;)

Thanks all for the kind words.
Was so cool to finally get a shot of him. He is quite elusive, but finally had the wind in our favour. Have been out for walks with my one dog in the evenings, and he is always wandering the ravine, but never a photo-op.

What a great moment to have captured. Like WD I'm a bit jealous as well, I'm just not quite as vocal about it ;)

No need for jealousy on anyones part. I have seen lots of photos of the beautiful places you all call home. Nova Scotia, New England, B.C., Australia, to name a few. So much to see and so much beauty in all these provinces, States, and Countries, as well.
(that being said, I could never leave here for there though,;)) It's so nice to step out the back door into thousands of square miles of wilderness.

very cool set HBG, makes me miss our years in the north (lived in Thunder Bay and looked after a territory that covered from the Sault to the Manitoba border and all points north).
