It's been a year since it arrived and it's still not been pushed out onto its moorings.

These are nice pictures, sort of like previews I guess. It looks very photogenic, the new bridge, if they every get around to letting us use it. Did you test the welding?

Really like the overlaying of the framework in 2nd shot, just too bad about that scaffolding on the right.

Ha! Ha! Well, most of the bridge is covered like a tent. Just bits are showing. One of the problems was the welds. It was built in Spain and none of the welding was up to code. The bridge is sort of a piece of art on its own designed by Santiago Calatrava. Right now they are installing the glass canopy and hopefully the bridge will be ready in November but won't be open until 2012. It is a a pedestrian, bike bridge with dedicated biking lanes. It will not be ugly as the naysayers are saying. I for one can hardly wait to see it. That red structure in winter against the frozen river will be a thing of beauty.
Peace Bridge will open in 2012 (http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/Peace+Bridge+will+open+2012/5381887/story.html)
Here is an extended view. I guess they will covering it back over again before they are done with it. :(
