Just wondering if anyone else has tried this and what was their experience if they did. The widest angle I can get right now is 18mm but if I can turn that into 9mm or even 12mm with this little device and get reasonably good quality images I would be satisfied for the price.

58mm Wide Angle Lens 0.45X For Canon Rebel EOS 18-55mm: Amazon.ca: Electronics (http://www.amazon.ca/Angle-0-45X-Canon-Rebel-18-55mm/dp/B003M55YLU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317132444&sr=8-1)

Oh, I should also mention my desire for this device so you know what I want to do with it. I want to be able to shoot house interiors and my 18-55 kit is the widest angle I can get. I'm trying to create reasonably decent images of bedrooms and living rooms to display on the web for rooms for rent. So, this doesn't have to be perfect and if I can get 12mm out of it I think I would be quite happy.

I have previously owned a similar device (The Digital King 0.7x version, which is also a budget wide angle adapter but a fair bit more expensive than the one you've linked). In fact I used it for exactly the same thing as you. For website house rental photos I thought it was fine, those photos aren't meant to be works of art and they are only used for a few weeks. I suppose if it's a very high end rental I may have wanted to use something with a little more quality.

There is a significant amount of softening near the edges though, as well as some barrelling. This didn't bother me for the rental photos, but I wouldn't want to use one for an 'arty' photo. I have a comparison on Flickr somewhere, I'll dig it up for you.

You're on my friends list, so you should be able to click through for full size 6 megapixel versions (these photos were taken 2 cameras ago :D)

Note the curved shed, and very soft extreme corners.

Thanks, thoughton. Sounds like it might be worth the $23 since it's so cheap. :)
