another from the first roll of self developed medium format (120) film (Ilford FP4 iso 125) shot with a Mamiya m645 using an f2.8 80mm lens (equivalent to a nifty fifty for 35).

Brought home a piece of acid etched glass (from work) to diffuse the light evenly under a negative when copying the negative with my f2.8 60mm macro lens (no scanner capable of doings negs yet). Inverted the digital file in PS and then brought the positive into Lr 3.5 (processed with a preset that emulates Iflord's FP4).

nice to see you having fun. I like this shot. there's so many smaller stories in the larger one

A lot happening in there for sure!
All that processing yet the ships are still sailing uphill ;)

Cheers Bambi - all the little stories is what drew me to take the shot.

Brendan - sorry to disappoint, but the texture in the sky is an artifact of the acid etched glass. The sky was so featureless it allowed the underlying texture to be seen.

MA - the most likely reason, is the negative was not correctly lined up when I copied it with the D5000/macro lens. Had I left the film border in the shot instead of cropping it would have been more apparent what was askew ( I did level the tripod before I put the m645 on).

It's a digital file before upload though ... therefore ... easy to level ;)

I like this one, as Brendan mentioned so many little stories for us to ponder. I love the retro lighthouse, and that gull. Would be interested to see how it looks if you crop the left side (removing the boy in hat, and the leftmost fisherman on that side of the pier).

Tim - is this what you had in mind?

Hmm I'm not sure now. I had thought it would be cleaner without the slightly soft lad in the bottom left, but now he's not there I miss his glance to the left.

PS Something's happened to the top of the lighthouse in the square crop.

not sure what happened with the Lighthouse clarity - some sort of gremlin running amok in the software or the upload

re-exported it from Lr and uploaded again - seems to have fixed the problem
