I'm curious as to which of these first two shots appeal the most, why.

First one for me MA! All that sky just gives it a great overall feeling for me.
Take all that away and the other 2 are just pictures of someone fishin'.

the composition is perfect in the first one, the second is quite good but I found the foreground distracting in the 3rd. Number 1 stands out by a mile.. Wonderful work as always.

Thanks Asnow.

I only added the 3rd as a further reference.

shot 1 for me too, it looks very chilled and relaxed..

#1 for me as well as I feel more drawn into it, the second and third have a distant and distracting feel to me

Personally, I would choose something between 1 and 2. #1 would be interesting for a two page spread that had text on it though. :)

Thanks Richard, Ed and JAS.

I really wasn't sure that 1st shot would appeal to many people. These are all uncropped btw.

I know what you are saying JAS ... I had that thought as well.

That first one was my favourite on Flickr and it's my favourite here too. I love the use of negative space you've got there.

I guess I'll be the odd one out here. For me, the bottom of shot 1 was cropped too close, it needed additional 'breathing room'. (Maybe 1/2 to 1 inch)
Therefore I pick shot 2.

Thanks Marko. JAS was of similar opinion.

There's a certain serene feel to number one for me that I like. :)

Thanks Casil. It was all about breaking the rules of comp and still making it appealing for me.

Yeah, # 2 for me as well ... as Marko said, a bit tight in the crop on #1.

I'd go for something in between 1 and 2 as well. Also the railings + horizon in 1 seems to be at a different angle to 2.

I like the first one the best. I think the composition really adds to the interest.
