Well, with the flooding in Thailand things are not looking to good for the near future for Nikon, as their plant, and Sony plant, (who supplies sensors for Nikon), are still underwater, and may never be recoverable.
I know I may not be a Nikon shooter, but this is bad news for the industry as a whole, from us consumers point of view.

I have a problem with the intellect of leaders of large corporations who place valuable resources in areas of known calamity. The whole coastal area in that part of the world is recognized as a repeatedly ravaged location. Placement in these cases has to be entirely based on short term economics. Value to the shareholder. The insurance company will pick up the cost and the money will move on.

Glad I'm not needing anything new anytime soon.

I was reading this morning that this same Thailand flooding has temporarily put a halt to Sony NEX5 production, as well as the Sony A65. Not that I'm willing to pay the NEX5's price anyway, but one does like to daydream :)
