3rd Annual Photography.ca Photo Swap

kat started us off two years ago and I liked the idea so much that I'm taking the proverbial bull by the horns and organizing the Third Annual Photography.ca Photo Swap. :clap::clap::clap:

Here's how it works. Everyone who is interested will put their name in the virtual hat by saying "I want to swap!" in this thread. On November 18th I'll stir up all the names in the hat and pull out photo swappers. Each member who joins in will receive the name and address of another member to which they are to send a print (8x10 or 8x12). Last year and the year previous we chose photos that we felt was our best image of the year or photos that had a special meaning for us. I say we continue with that choice of theme but I'm always open for new ideas.

I just bumped the posting to make sure we get as many people to join up as possible before the deadline on the 18th. I'm hoping that will give everyone enough time to send them out in time for the holidays.

You're "Justin" time! :) Today's the last day before I shake the hat and draw names to pair everyone up. Any other late arrivals. I will be drawing names tomorrow... it's lots of fun and you'll get an awesome print from another photographer for Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Winter Solstice/Whatever.

The Drawing is complete. Here's how it will work out. Find your name in column B and send your mailing address to the corresponding user in column A via a private message. Choose what you consider your best image of the year or a photo that had a special meaning for you and print it at a good frame size (say 8x10 or 8x12) and drop it in the mail to the person who has sent you their mailing address.

I know it's a bit confusing but does it make sense?

I'll leave that up to each individual but I recommend that you try to get it in the mail in time for those of us who celebrate Christmas. So, I would suggest December 5th as the latest date if you want it to arrive before the 25th. Maybe earlier if you have to go international.

I DID IT! I picked/made the print I will be sending Bambi! I was torn between something pursuant of her lifestyle/interests, and something of my interests in photography, and I have decided that a print made from an image in one of my favorite aspects of photography would be better suited for the spirit of this exchange. It was a tough decision, but I am satisfied with what I have chosen...Bambi, your print is on the way!

Well if Kat wants I would do a second person one, open to it always looking to add art and share works with others. I have not printed what I am sending out yet so a second different print would be easy for me and if you mail by the 12th of December it works also. Let me know as I said open to it. Would hate to see the person who had the idea miss out.....

I got Mike's (mbrager) waaaay back in late November and am ashamed I didn't say so. Great picture of Rugged Canadian mountains (Mt Allan, to be specific) A future M/C trip I think...

I got my photo from Acadie this week and it was beautiful! Wow! What a gorgeous print. One of my friends at work is an artist and he and I were all gaga over it. It is kind of cool to look at art with a fellow artist (if I may be so bold). They have a way of looking at a piece that goes beyond the obvious. It will definitely be a treasured piece.
