Basement studio setup
I want to use my basement as a simple photo studio, what I know is I need a backdrop support system, some flashes, softbox, umbrellas, flash trigger, etc.
My questions are here
1) I saw some studio lights are continious and some are sync flash style.. could anyone tell me how are they different from each other?
2) Is brand name studio light better than China one? Anyone has experience with china-branded studio light?
3) Anyone setted up the basement as photo studio? could you give me some advises and or the picture of your basement studio?

Sure. Here's some pros and cons.
1 - Continuous is like a light bulb - always on - a flash Flashes. Continuous is MUCH weaker as a general rule meaning your aperture will need to be larger. Continuous allows you to see the lighting pattern much more easily. I'd say buy 3 cheap flashes and start that way. 2 flashes will light the subject and 1 flash for the background if needed.
2 - If budget is an issue, buy the cheapest thing you can afford, if it's not at all an issue, always buy the best gear.
3 - This is a huge question. I did a podcast on studio light for beginners and it may help. Feel free to take a listen. Hey sillyboy I own the Cactus V5 flash triggers from Gadgetinfinity. They are relatively inexpensive. About $60 something at Henrey's on sale or you can order them right from Gadgetinfinity.

They are manual only triggers they will not TTL. I really recommend them. Especially for the price. They run on AAA batteries (easy to find in any store) and if you want you can purchase single transceivers for firing additional flashes.
