I've started trying to teach my eldest daughter the piano, or though at the moment she is more interested in making a loud noise. :)

Most of the light was provided from a desklamp from behind, and then I used a reflector to add a bit of fill.

Thanks guys, normally I'd set up some speedlites, so It's kind of nice to take a more simplistic approach.

I hate to be picky, but the thing that is distracting me is the dust on the keyboard. This is a BEAUTIFUL shot, her eyes are amazing. You have great sharp lines, but the dust takes that complete sharpness away. The lines are great, i.e. the keys going to her face, the white sheet music with the dark shadow and lines of music, even the drafting lamp and curtains are perfect. Basically, the image is so sharp, that the dust is sharp, hurting the image (IMO).

The only two things I work try and fix in this image is the green spot just to her right and the string hanging from the light (I guess thats what that is). You would have to reshoot to fix the dust.

Thanks for suggestions theantiquetiger,

Your right about the dust, I should have thought about that at the time.

Really a re-shoot would sort this out, but I have had a quick go at reducing it in post.

That looks really good and natural. I actually had to go back to the original to figure out what you had done. Idon't think it needs a re-shoot now.

I'll second that.

Thanks all, for the edit, I added a luminance adjustment layer, and then painted over the dust at the top to try and maintain some of the texture. Then I cloned out some of the dust around the faders and knobs.
