spent the day working with a new white seamless paper background (arctic white- has a hint of blue in it).

First goal was to get the lighting ratios right and not have the background light contaminate the subject and provide good separation. Second goal was to use a minimal light set up ( main light was one ac strobe GN 85ft, into a 45" umbrella, with a 32" lite disc white side to subject providing fill, background was lit with one SB600 into another 45" umbrella with panel to prevent spill onto the subject) to keep it simple.

The attached lighting diagram shows a beauty dish instead of the strobe/umbrella as the main light (used that for the B&W shot)

Very nicely lit, excellent technically but I'm missing the emotion... your expression is kinda blank. Other than that it's a great shot, Ed.
