Ok, just got an iPod Touch for Christmas (think iPhone without the phone) and was wondering if anyone can recommend any good photography related apps that I should get. I'm kinda anti-Apple but now that I have one I figure I should probably try to make use of the thing.

Great present. Enjoy it. I have a work iPhone and love the photography apps. Obviously I have the Flickr app, so I can show my best pictures on the phone.
An app called f/8 will calculate depth of field specifically for my camera and each of my lenses, for any distance.
Daylight is an app that gives me sunrise/sunset/bluehour/goldenhour times for any given day at my location. Uses phone GPS if I'm out of town. Simple and elegant app.
For the phone's own camera, I've been using Instagram. Gives squared off pictures with various templates/styles of processing to try on each picture. Instant uploads to Flickr or wherever.
Also Camera Genius gives many more options for using the phone's own camera. Recently updated and free.
I've been trying an app called Light meter. Uses the phone's camera to suggest exposure settings for the scene. Seems to work well enough, and it's free, so a lot cheaper than a light meter. But I find the buttons and dials a bit finicky for my larger hands.
Best of all, I can set alarms to remind me when to come home.

snapseed (http://www.niksoftware.com/snapseed/usa/index.php?view=intro%2Fmain.shtml) by nik software, iris (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iris-photo-suite/id377598786?mt=8), photoforge (http://ghostbirdsoft.com/photoforge) (all in the app store)

To name a few. Also, there is Martin Bailey's app that has some useful bits.

Photoshop express is a handy basic editor.
100cameras has some neat filters that make cool pics out of quick snap shots.
Photosynth makes panoramas easy.
Self timer does just that. Adds a timer to the camera.
A great fun one with kids is oldbooth+
Slow Shutter lets you choose speeds from 1/15 to 30 seconds as well as exposure compensation.

Hi, Iggy. I've been meaning to add to this

I know how tight you are, so I'll let you know up front that some of them cost a few dollars. Aside from the Nikon specific stuff, here's what I have on my little 16gb iPad 2:
The Photographer's Ephemeris
Photographers Contract Maker
PhotoScout
Rick Sammon's iHDR
PhotoCalc
PhotoBuddy
Photo Tools Pro
Moon Seeker
Light Finder Lite
Iris Photo Suite for iPad
iEphemeris Pro
Golden Hour
Field Tools
...and last, but certainly not least, DSLR Camera Remote Professional Edit...

I appreciate the suggestions, Barefoot. I'm not sure, though, that I'd call myself "tight" :p

Just pick'in.:)

But, seriously. I know this thread is a little old and maybe you've come across it yourself in the meantime. But, if not, here's a pretty cool tip for iphone/ipod touch and ipad users

DSLR Camera Remote Pro. (http://www.ononesoftware.com/products/dslr-camera-remote/) Access and control nearly every function of your camera with liveview wireless from as for away as your connection allows on your device of choice. How cool is that?

I haven't played with it very much yet, but I'll be busting some hummingbird's asses this coming summer.

I've heard good things about Camera+ by Lisa Bettney. See link

This is a fab thread.
Did anyone mention Hipstamatic or Instagram....those are both good as well.

I'm taking the liberty to change the threadtitle so it's easier to find. Thx! M
