I created these two "day and night" photos using different concepts - the same two component images were used in each photo...

Which concept do you like better??

Fun play Kevin. I think I prefer the first one. The second one is clearly 2 photos blended together left and right. The first one makes you stop and think a bit more. As you obviusoly arent looking for a realistic representation of the scene at the time, I think the first one is a bit more abstract. I also like the reflections right across the water in the first. Just my thoughts for what they are worth

I am also a fan of this creative play. Shot 1 for me as well though shot 2 is still interesting to my eye.

Thanks for your feedback!

The first place I saw this kind of thing done was here:

41 Amazing Photos that Capture Day and Night Simultaneously (http://gizmodo.com/5837588/41-amazing-photos-that-capture-day-and-night-simultaneously)

I mimicked some of these techniques in my second photo (the day and night photos side by side), but for the first photo, I thought i'd try something different...

I like the first one looks almost natural. The second one is cool, but the way it turns form the cloud to nothing and with water with the nice ripples to the flat water just looks a bit odd.

Really cool play... I kind of like the great divide of the second rather than the "trickery" of the first... I just gotta be me :)

I like the concept, but I don't like either of the two implementations. I think you are going to have to wait and wait on that spot until you can successfully capture a shot that shows a sharp dividing line between the two sides without resorting to photoshop.

or else I could ask the city of Vancouver to turn the lights on during the day! :)

Thanks for your votes everyone! I've actually printed 4x6 copies of the small one and put them into greeting cards - people get a kick out of it...
