I bought this lens today. I wanted the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8, but it was a little out of my price range.

I assume you didn't get the VC version from the description ? I have this one, non-VC that is, and LOVE IT ! One big advantage over the Canon's, is 6 years warranty, I take this lens with me all the time, very sharp, very fast for a zoom, although the AF is noisy, pretty fast, and pretty accurate, I like it a lot ! You should enjoy it also !
