Went to a local park on my lunch break at work and got these pics. I don't have a macro lens so this is the best I can do with my 55-250 kit quality lens.

Not bad at all ... really like the blackbird on the cattail ... nicely done!

Thanks Matt. Until I can afford an 'L' lens this will have to do.

Like that 3rd butterfly shot, and the Blackbird Asnow.

Remember, there is other glass besides Canon out there, and many are darn near equal, or equal in image quality. They may not have the same "build" quality, but how rough do you plan on being with your equipment.? Also, never look away from buying used, or you will miss out on many deals. Especially this year, as Canon is replacing so much glass. Lots of chances to get others "old" glass as they upgrade.

Nice set asnow. I'd be happy with those if they were mine.

HBG gives good advice here!

I dig this set as well - especially the bird and cattail

Thanks HBG, MA and Marko.

MA - I'm not unhappy with these, It's just that I can see how much sharper other's pictures are with their lenses (your pictures for example)

HBG and Marko - I haven't ruled out other glass. I know that there are other manufactures that make very good lenses and used ones are also an option. I don't know how much more I can kill my VISA account, but someday I will pull the trigger and buy something.

Its funny, I wasn't too turned on with the blackbiird picture whan I first started processing. I had absolutely no definition in the black. I brought out as much as I could in PP and now this picture is growing on me.

Nice set. I don' mind the sharpness but I do see a bit of weird bokeh. (Evident in photos 1 and 3) Is that through pp?

The blackbird is definitely my favourite in this set. I would have thought it was too early for butterflies.... in fact, I just said that in another thread... maybe it's just too early around here.

Thanks Iggy, KAT, XPWizard.

KAT - Nice eye. I did work on the bokeh. I don't remember reducing the clarity, but I did desaturate it a bit. I guess I will have to revisit this.
