With a suggestion from Doug L and Hillbillygirl to re-edit may last post I thought I would give it another shot with the goal of making it look more realistic. This is still a HDR composition; the normal exposure is just too blown out.

Now THAT is a beautiful pic for sure. As I said before, wonderful composition with every element well balanced and complimenting each other. Very nicely done JE.

I'm in complete agreement with HBG. This is a beautiful picture. Great redo.

I really like this! 100X more than the heavily processed one. The green field/brown field juxtaposition works very well for me here.
I might try to crop maybe 1-2 inches off the sky, I think it might work and give the image an even better 'balance'.

Thanks for the advice everyone. When it comes to cropping is there a specific range of aspect ratios that are typical. Unless I am printing them I usually always keep the aspect ratio of the original, but now that I am thinking about it there doesn't seem to be any advantage of doing that.

For me, as a rough guideline when possible, i too try to maintain the original aspect ratio, because the composition of that aspect ratio changes as we crop.
That said, some crops make the image better after the fact and for me that's the more important factor so I'll crop whenever I feel it works. These things are often very personal it seems.
