I did a double take on it... looked a lot like a bug at first. IF you never said "Does anyone know what this is?" I would not have looked as close as I did. This was great.

I admit I spent a longtime looking for its eyes thinking it was a phasmid of some kind but I finally noticed the legs.

Very clever indeed. And I too had to look twice after 'some sort of leaf insect' had already leapt to mind.

Insects have 6 legs though ;)

It may have worked better if placed in a more green environment like a grass to hide some it's leg and body features.
Think like an insect Marko ... sitting on that rock is like a bright neon sign to a bird to come and have lunch. :eek: :)

Ok secret is out...but I'm glad some of you took a double take. :D
The gardeners made it at the hotel I was staying at. It's made of palm leaves I believe. The straight giveaway were the legs but boy first time the gardener showed it to me, I too took a double take.

Just as a matter of curiosity take a look at this youtube video of a orchid mantis. Marco's origami insect is not so far from the truth. :cool:
