Hello, It's my first post on Photography.ca I thought I'd start with a critique. The image was shot a couple weeks ago at Oak Lake Manitoba with a Nikon D800 and 70-200mm 2.8 at 70mm, f/11, ISO 1600, 1/320. There was a bit of a breeze so I wanted to be as fast as I could with out getting noisy. The image was filtered using a Cokin circ Polarizer and a Cokin Split ND medium I believe. The subjects in the frame are unaware they are being photographed, seeing as I was going for silouette I didn't feel it was nescesary to get their permission. However I did show them after I had taken a number of shots. I will post these for critique later. Thanks for your input, I'm a big boy and don't need a hug, just an honest opinion. Thanks Sean

First off welcome to the forum Sean - Glad u found us and hope to see more pix soon.

I like this image overall. Lovely filtered colours and nice exposure for sure.

It's a good image the way it is....but I'm always looking to make images tighter, cleaner, more focused.
I can't be sure, lol - but i think there is too much sky here. The blue part of the sky in particular is trying to steal all my attention...and this shot is not about the sky.
The sky is a part of it sure, but so is the water, the sun, the tree and the silhouettes....but the sky takes up 3/4th of the image.
If this were mine I might try a crop just above the sun and 1 shot just below the sun. Of course the shape changes...but u might like it.

Anyway it's just a thought. Welcome again!

Thanks for the welcome and ideas on the image Marko, I will experiment with a couple different crops and see what I come up with. I made a few in the series so I'll upload another thats quite abit tighter.

Nice image. I agree with Marko regarding cropping some of the sky. I find that scrolling the image of the top of my screen so I only see the orange improves the image for me.
