I've been wanting to do this kind of shot for a while now and of course when I'm already dead tired I find the tree frog. I decide to suck it up, as I'm not going to get many more chances this year to try it, and get the gear. These were shot with a Canon 7D on tripod, 17-40 F/4 at 40mm at F5, ISO 1600, 1/4s SS in Manual using liveview to manually focus and a cable realease. There was a slight breeze that was playing havoc with such a low shutter speed. To light the scene I used a flashlight, but the light was just way to harsh, so I took a leaf on the plant and put it over the flashlight to help diffuse the light.

That sure is one very green frog. Looks great on the black background.

Very nice Mike, and love that second one for the perspective. Very quick thinking on the light diffuser for the harsh lighting also, as the exposure is spot on here.

I agree. Nicely made

Thanks everyone. Using the leaf as a diffuser really increased the green light so that the frog is closer to the colour of the leaf.

Superb captures, both of them. Well done, and this just shows that patience pays off.
