Second Camera for a Wedding.....I Need Some Advice

Hello,

I started putting myself out there for wedding photography and got a job coming up in a few months.

I currently have a Nikon D5100 with several lenses but I know I'm going to need another camera cause I don't want to be switching lenses on one body all the time. I was wondering if I should just go with another D5100 which I know inside and out and I'm comfortable using or if I should upgrade to another more "Professional" camera that might give better results......and if so, which camera would be suitable? Any help/suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I would suggest you talk to any friends you may have who are photographers and ask to borrow a camera rather than actually spending money on one or if none of your friends are photographers see if there's a camera store that would rent you one. If you do end up buying I'd consider moving up to the next level of camera not to look more professional but because it will give you more options.

That's some pretty sound advise. There are plenty of places that will rent you a camera for a song and a dance. You could get a D7000 for a week at just a little over $150 and that would include shipping and insurance.

personally - I would not invest in a camera for something that I'm not so familiar with. The rental is a great idea.

Yup, can't go wrong with that, for sure. Some stores will credit you the rental fee if you end up buying the camera ....

If you do rent, perhaps you might rent the same model you already have. A wedding is not the time to learn how to use a different camera.
