I've mentioned I enjoy taking shots of birds a few times here so I thought I might show you some. This morning my wife and I went out and took various photos including these ones I got below.

Both birds are reasonably common around our area. Although we've had both lately in our backyard I got these ones from around coastline a few k's away.

1stly ... the Rose Breasted Cockatoo. We call them Galah's here in Aussie and, because they are funny to watch clowning around (they are renowned for hanging upside down or lying on their backs in the grass), we also call folks who clown around 'Galahs'.

Blue Faced Honey Eater. The ones without the blue are juveniles.

Nice :) They are great fun, though rather heavy to lug around!

Thanks Marko.

We don't see the Honey Eaters as often around here as the Galahs. In fact Galah's and Sulfur Crested Cockatoo's are daily visitors as are Rainbow Lorikeets ...

Sulfur Crested Cockatoo (usually just called a White Cockatoo)

You can have one! Noisy damn things are everywhere here :D
There are times during the year when they aren't around but never for long. Most mornings they are in our bottlebrush tree at present.

I fell in love with pelicans after watching "Winged Migration" just an awesome flier in my books. I really enjoy shooting birds too.

Pelicans sure can fly high! And they are fun subject when there's a few of them together. I have a few pelican shots around

Nice shots. I like the pelicans in the last post as well. Its nice to see birds with color for a change. The ones we have here are pretty drab. We have the cardinal, a finch species, and the hummingbird. They are far and few between though. I'll have to share a couple of the birds Ive got. They are nothing this great.
