Hi there looking for a critique to cast eye on this shot as I am not sure if it is good or not.

I have to say that I like this shot quite a bit. I really like how the buildings on each side angle downward and then the tower in the back pops up and the crowd is just very cool. The only thing that I find a little distracting is that it's a little tilted to the left. You can see it in the tower in the back as it's not perfectly straight up and down.

Thanks Iguanasan for your comments I appreciate it, as I am not sure if this is a good shot or not.
Also point taken about the leaning tower, I have problem sometimes to see my screen properly on my PC and this always causes havoc when I am trying to straighten things out.
Thanks Again
Paul

Hmmm - for me what's missing is an overall focal point. My eye tends to wander all around the image.
So I have to bring it back to you (sneaky I am :) ) and ask what about this shot intrigued you? You included many elements. Are they all important - do they all contribute?
Hope that may help.

nice job on the lights to start with. i think it would have been cool if you would have tired the rule of thirds and have the camera looking a bit more left or right so the tower was off centre. that way the building would draw your eye to it and may give your eye that focal point and help tell your story.

Hello Marko, Belliveau
Thanks for your comments it is appreciated and I think you found the answer I was looking for "The Focal Point".
When I saw this scene in Shanghai I was like WOW because for me I liked the neon lights, tower, the people and wanted to capture that but like you said there's to much going on and it would be better if there was a point that draws you in.This is something that occurs a lot in my photography and would be good for me to look at the rule of thirds again,I did learn at college about the rule of thirds but never quite got my head round it.
Anyhow till next time I consider this case closed.
Thanks Again
Paul
